LETTER FROM CITY OF GRANDE PRAIRIE
February 17, 2016
Attention: Business Owner/Operator/Resident
RE: Downtown Rehabilitation & Streetscape Project (2015/16) – Monthly Project Update

Dear Sir/Madam,
The first Public Open House for the project was held on February 2, 2016, a total of 65 people attended the event. There were some folks from the Downtown Association in attendance and I would like to thank them for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend the event. A second Public Open House is tentatively planned for April, 2016 and at this event the Detailed Design Drawings will be displayed.
At the February 8, 2016 Council Meeting some items relating to the project were addressed; the following motions were approved by Council:
- 101 Avenue Surface Treatment for travel lanes will be Asphalt not paving stones
- Street lighting option approved as per the terms of the ATCO Franchise Agreement under the ‛invested rate’
- Project to proceed with the incorporation of a parking payment system based on a kiosk type system
- Project limits along 101 Street adjacent to Revolution Place were determined by Council
- No work to take place on the 102 Street
- Detailed design to proceed on 101 Avenue from Golden Ages Centre to 102 Street
Our Engineering Consultant has entered into the Detailed Design phase of the project, as the design information is being honed in on, it is evident that Phase 1 and Phase 2 will likely be constructed in separate years.
-Phase 1 - 101 Street construction – 2016
-Phase 2 - 101 Avenue construction - 2017
Please bear in mind that some overlap of the aforementioned locations may occur.
Finally, please keep checking the project website for updated information, you can sign up to receive email updates for events and information specific to the project: http://www.cityofgp.com/ourdowntown

Your cooperation and patience on these items are greatly appreciated. Sincerely,
Conor Coney, M.Sc., B.Sc. (Hon).
